We apply our bioinformatics expertise to identify function-specific sequence and structure motifs to enhance the functionality of proteins. We specifically focus on lipase and cellulase enzyme families trying to enhance their temperature stability and modify their substrate selectivity. To this end, we use motif finding algorithms, molecular dynamics and molecular mechanics methods. Modified proteins are recombinantly produced in P. pastoris or E. coli and characterized in our Protein Engineering lab.
